The Wilderness Survival summer campers found it on a hike on the red trail. Counselors were puzzled. As it turns out, after some research... this is a firefly larva!
!! somebody !! went for a long walk on my back porch. I think it's a type of isopod but truly I've never seen one look this prehistoric . NE PA
Omg this video is so good??? Look at this lil dude walking with assistance from its own butt. Amazing. It’s not an isopod! It’s a firefly larva. Notice it only has six legs! Isopods have 7 pairs. :)
Other than cute, I'm really not sure what this guy is, looks like the lovechild of a flat back milipede and an isopod. Central NY
What a cute lil armored friend! Woodlice (isopods) have seven pairs of legs and millipedes have even more - you can see this dude has six legs, so it’s an insect! It’s the larva of a firefly beetle, probably in the Photuris genus. Adorable! Thanks for sharing :)
