idk how to ask for drabbles... A drabble about Firefly hearing about Ringmaster going to the finals with her. Add some friendly rivals dynamic and a pinch of wholesome. sorry I'm so vanilla
The Men in Black approach her door cautiously, knocking.
“What is it?” Firefly calls, bored.
“The finalist of Group B is headed backstage, if you wanted to greet them.”
The insect groans, covering her face with her hand. “I’ll be out in a few, I guess.” She gently places her phone back on the counter, screen lighting up with another text from her best friend. She makes a mental note to reply later.
Staring into the mirror, she lets herself wonder: which team was joining her? Her first instinct is Miss Teddy, the thought of the soft bear bringing an involuntary smile to her face. She wouldn’t mind a cuddly companion, though she’d feel awful about beating her in the end.
Water under the bridge before her, she muses, and walks out the door. Humming as she goes, she nods to the people she passes, trying (and failing) not to knock anything over as she walks. Her bulb, while gorgeously illuminating and a definite conversation starter, isn’t made for tight spaces.
“Sorry, sorry, crap- I promise, I’ll buy you another coffee sometime.” She apologizes as she takes out an intern’s drink. They wave it off with a laugh, trying their best to dab at the quickly setting stain on their pants. As she leans over to help, a voice calls from behind her.
“I thought the saying was ‘taking out the competition’, not the stage hands.” Ringmaster taunts, a smile ringing through her words. Forgetting about the worker before her Firefly spins on her heels, coming face to face with her fellow Good Guy.
“Ring! I gotta say, wasn’t expecting to see you here; didn’t think they’d let two of us through.” She jokes, bumping a shoulder against the lion as she falls into sync at her side- at least, as best she can without stepping on her skirt.
Her mane jostles as she laughs. “Me neither, I thought you were a goner!”
With a scoff Firefly speeds up. “Oh yeah, I’m sure. As if any of those bozo’s could top my girl boss energy.” She rolls her shoulders haughtily.
“Aren’t you grabbing dinner with them like next week?” Almost as quickly as her chest puffed, it deflates. “Yeah, Miss Teddy snitched- she actually invited me too, but I didn’t wanna step on your toes twice in one season.”
“Twice?” She questions. Ringmaster flashes her a smirk, before ducking through the waiting door. “Yeah: dinner and the finale.” She lets it close behind her, leaving a spluttering Firefly face to face with the metal.
“Oh I am so taking you down! Super Bass, more like Super ‘Last Place’!”
The door does nothing to muffle the other woman’s laughter.
