Humans Are Weird: Love of Rain
I know that this one has been done before but I like this concept enough that I don't really care.
Humans have always have possess do a love of rain. Wether it's watching from the window, dancing in it, or maniacally laughing as lightning lights up the sky. For instance, when ever it rains, my brother and I are the first ones outside. A year ago we had the stupid idea to go jump on the trampoline when it was pouring sheets and thundering. A little more recently we had the even more brilliant idea to do the same, but with soap on the trampoline as well. You can imagine how well that went.
But just think how aliens would take this.
Damik was confused and concerned. He had overheard his residents human crewmates, Human Austin and Human Maria, having a discussion about something called rain. They had been talking about how much they missed, the smell and feel of it, and how excited they were to be getting a break for the spring on their home planet Earth. Damik was confused enough to approach them during what they would call lunch.
“"Excuse me, Human Maria, Human Austin, I overheard you this morning talking about something called rain. This is not a term I am familiar with, could you be troubled to explain?”
Human Maria bared her teeth, in a gesture of Earthen friendship, if Damik recalled correctly.
“You don't know what rain is?” She asked incredulously. “Well, I guess that's reasonable, considering the fact that your home planet has a different astmospherical make up. I suppose you wouldn’t have-”
She was cut off by Human Austin, “ Ignore her rambling”
Maria moved her eyes in a circle and proceeded to wipe her, Damaik believed it was called a tounge, on Human Austins hand. Austin lurched back and hurriedly ran to find something to clean his hand with.
Maria smiled and continued talking.
“"Rain on our planet is a liquid that falls from the sky when it condenses enough to become heavier than the air around it. When it falls it’s called rain.”
Damik was slightly confused. “"Why are you excited about a liquid that simply falls to the ground?”
Maria hesitated, “ Well, I guess it's something that you just have to experience to know. Sorry if that wasn't helpful.” She nodded at Damik as she's stood up and left the cafeteria.
Damik left more confuse do than he was beforehand and made a mental note to investigate this ‘rain’ next time they docked on earth.
As always feel free to add on :)
