I'm laughing because Jay (if he were still alive) would be 21. Which makes him mentally like... 7 years older than Ellie. But he appears 16 because that's when he died... Which probably means that he was there pre-infection.

Jay's a little nervous with so many people being around him and possibly completely unaware that he even exists-- he supposes he should delve into a more tangible realm so that they could all physically see him... But he guesses that it wasn't his business to intrude on people daily lives- or materialise out of flipping nowhere- So he stays put.
