Azula has got to be one of my favorite villains of all time! From the first moment we meet her she’s clearly filled with malice and ambition and is striving for perfection. She was cunning and utterly ruthless, injuring her uncle Iroh just go get away, and even striking a blow that nearly killed Aang. But while she may have displayed some sociopathic traits like a lack of empathy, she had a deep desire to be loved and accepted by her mother, something she felt she never had. With her mother, Ursa’s, disappearance and only her ruthless father, Ozai’s, influence, Azula found acceptance through fear and manipulation. But when even her closest confidants turned on her, she was driven mad at the idea that trust and intimacy can never actually be achieved. If something as innate as eternal love couldn’t achieve that level of trust and acceptance, and forceful manipulation and fear couldn’t, then what was there? Her hopelessness in that regard, and her inability to recognize that because of her desire for ruthless perfection, makes her a remarkably complex and sympathetic villain. I don’t know if Avatar Studios has anything planned for Azula in their upcoming projects, but I sure hope they do! #azula #princessofthefirenation #firenation #firenationprincess #avatar #avatarthelastairbender #atla #zuko #bluespirit #blueflame #firebender #firebending #greydelisle #azulafanart #atlafanart #avatarfanart #fanart #digitalart #artistssupport_feature #artshoutout_gallery #yourartsupporter #das_4u #lovesupportartists (at Waynesburg, Pennsylvania) https://www.instagram.com/p/CRWri3eDS9w/?utm_medium=tumblr
