So I don't normally talk about mental images because that's not how I generally think, but I had a very vivid one lately and I thought I would share it.

all ATLA ship wars can be solved if we pretend they all dated each other in between the end of ATLA and TLOK and eventually katang had three kids while the others were still having some crazy relationship drama and Zuko shows up with a daughter and never tells anyone who the mother is even though we can assume its Mai's. and Toph has her baby daddies. and then everyone goes back to the messy situationships.

I have said this before but I think something which is underappreciated is that Mai has a very different understanding of Azula's actions and motives than Zuko does. That isn't to say Mai likes Azula's actions or doesn't feel a great deal of resentment toward her, but she'd regard a lot of what Zuko thinks about Azula to be complete BS. For instance, there's not a chance in the world that Mai thinks Azula bringing Zuko home was part of a perfidious plot against Zuko. And this is something that could very much come up postwar.

Ty Lee also wouldn't understand Azula's actions the same way Zuko does, but the odds of Zuko taking her seriously are zero. As for Iroh, I don't know what he understands, but he would never "debunk" any of Zuko's hatred for Azula.

Maizula shippers are starting to get weird about Zuko the same way Zutara shippers are weird about Aang and Mai... I don't like it...

Good. I hope it gets worse. His stans (which is synonym for zutara shippers) have made this fandom hell for everyone. I am very excited to see people uplifting Mai and dunking on him and saying she's the one that deserves better.

“Does Mai really like that angsty Zuko?” A better inquiry would be "Does Zuko really like that ugly Mai?" Since you know, she's the one that apparently takes him for granted constantly and even cozied up to another man at the Fire Island party, treats her boyfriend like trash and unlike Zuko, lazily stays home in her ivory tower all day in the Fire Nation and never worries too much about her family’s nobility struggles, unlike Zuko that would like to bond more with her and even his evil father (Book 1 dialogue), and always worries about proving himself to an unhealty level.

If tomorrow there was an apocalypse and human civilization was reset, Zuko boymoms would invent misogyny from first principles.

How about we talk about fuckass Zuko who was suspicious and possessive. "Cozied up with another man" idk buddy, do you hate women so much? That dude didn't even start hitting on her directly until after the party began and she didn't even look his way until that and Zuko STILL got jealous over NOTHING.

Zuko could show straight up abusive behavior (yes, the way Zuko acted in The Beach is what abusive partners IRL act like: constantly suspicious and accusations of cheating) but it's Mai that they'd blame. "She cozied up to another man" you would be one sending women to their graves during Salem witch trials no doubt. Because it's always a woman's fault. Poor meow meow zuzu got irrationally jealous and violent, how do I blame it on the girl? She must have been cheating on him.

And if I say boys like Zuko who try too hard to prove themselves to their abusive blood family make up for terrible husbands? Well, you wouldn't get that as is evident from your post. Boymoms, the whole lot of you. It's Mai who's the one that deserves better and is stuck with Zuko's lousy ass. I'm glad she dumped him and I hope she never takes him back and he dies single because he deserves it.
