Post Kickstarter I set off on what became a project of epic proportions! (There wasn't a seagull or penguin in sight!) I decided to decorate my bedroom. 3 years ago we moved in to a white box with all its personality stripped away, all the original features were ripped out or covered up. This gorgeous fireplace was covered in thick white drippy paint. I set forth with heat gun, scraper, paint Stripper and wire wool ... I then used toothbrushes, cotton buds, an etching needle, brute force and swearing to get thru modern white paint and some weird nasty old lead paint (I reckon about 5 layers) and I excavated this little fireplace in about 26 hours of hard graft. I'm very pleased with the end results and baffled as to why someone would cover this up in the first place. I then wallpapered, bought way too many plants and a new rug to cover the mess that the previous people made of the floor... then I totally messed up my left elbow so I can't finish the skirting board! Well worth the 26 hours and the busted elbow! Stand-In shower renovation with lots of angles. We also refaced a wood fireplace in the master bedroom and inset the tile into the floor. so that it's flush with the existing oak hardwood flooring.
