This is such an amazing fic. I don't know how @letsdothepanic fits so much angst into 1800 words but wow. This was written for @rsfiresidetales and I wish I had read it earlier.
Content warning for alcohol abuse and depression, I think.
So beautifully written, as usual. Sirius faces a Remus who has just had enough of him. Hasn't he?

sometimes promises are lies, sometimes liars are brave and honest and true. sometimes prophecies mislead and sometimes games are more real than reality.
but you never know till it’s over. can’t reflect until it’s back that you’re looking. so when this rain stops, suddenly as it began, I’ll read the past to you like a fireside tale, and together we will learn the future.
The wonderful voice of Christopher Lee. I've been listening to him reading Fireside Tales recorded for the BBC some time ago. Perfect for an Autumn Sunday Evening.

It was a dark and stormy night…
Welcome! Come on in! RS Fireside Tales is a prompt-based fest featuring Remus/Sirius in spooky, mysterious, uncanny, strange and atmospheric stories that you’d love to read (or be told) while sipping a warming beverage by a crackling fire. We’re looking for things like strange apparitions, detectives, mist and fog, mysterious characters, mythical creatures, or just a general sense of unease… No need to sign up! We’ll provide the prompts, claiming yours counts as signing up. This fest is anonymous. Claiming and posting will be anonymous, with reveals at the end. Ratings restrictions: all ratings Length restrictions: 500 word minimum, similar for art View and claim your prompts: right here! Claiming opens: NOW! Claiming closes: Oct 11th 2021 Submissions due: January 30th 2022 Posting begins: early February on AO3
Rules and F.A.Q.s What is the minimum length requirement for fic? All fic entries must be at least 500 words in length. There is no maximum word count. Is horror allowed? If you must, we won’t stand in your way. Please bear in mind that the main focus of this fest is spine chilling mystery, rather than violence and gore. Is poetry allowed? Absolutely, don’t hold back. Is fluff allowed? Of course, as long as you also include a vague sense of foreboding, or something strange and otherworldly, or just a bit of an eerie atmosphere. What ratings are allowed? Anything from G to NC-17. Are other pairings allowed? Yes - as long as Remus/Sirius is very much the main pairing. I like more than one prompt, may I claim more than one? Yes, but you’ll need to finish your first prompt before claiming a second. How many times may a prompt be claimed? This year each prompt can only be claimed once! May I submit a story which is part of an existing series or a WIP? No, we’d like brand new stories and art that are unique to this fest. Are non-magical AUs allowed? Yes! As long as the story is sufficiently creepy it doesn’t matter if the chills come from magical or more mundane sources.
