Hi! I was just wondering what your top retelling recommendations are? (Like any kind of retelling but if you know some really good fairy tale ones that would be cool)
Tiger Lily by Jodi Lynn Anderson is a Peter Pan retelling from Tiger Lily’s POV and it’s beautiful and haunting.
Wicked by Greggory McGuire (I know his name probably is misspelled here but I’m on mobile and can’t be bothered to look it up) is associated with the musical that was based on it but it’s honestly such a good retelling. So dark and I still think about it to this day even though I struggled with parts of it at the time.
For Darkness Shows the Stars by Diana Peterfruend is a Persuasion by Jane Austen retelling and does the angsty romance thing so well.
Those are probably my favorites. I’ve read a lot of retellings but I find most of them disappointing. And I didn’t include books that had inspiration from other works but weren’t direct retellings because then the list would just get muddled.
