Lucas absolutely abhors…broccoli. Even hearing the word is enough to send a twitch into his eye and when presented with the ghastly vegetable as a meal, he would politely refuse to eat and pass them to whoever he was eating with(most of the time Dawn).
Floaroma Town was usually a calm and sleepy place, where the flowers were a blanket of soft colours rolling across the fields. But once every year those flowers became the centrepiece of one of Sinnoh’s most popular festivals-- the Flower Festival, at which the region expresses their gratitude for nature.
It shouldn’t have been a surprise to learn that Flint was a regular at this festival, really, but to Candice it honestly hadn’t seemed like the sort of bright and energetic festival that Flint would go to. Then again, Flint did have a habit of surprising even his closest friends on an almost daily basis, so she didn’t give it much thought after that. A couple of days ago Flint had called her up, begging her to come down to Floaroma to accompany him, and as short-notice as the invitation had been she never could say no to her fiery friend.
So there she was, leaning against the side of the Floaroma Pokemon Centre, waiting for the fire-type expert in question. She tugged at the sleeve of her yukata, deep blue with a white obi and decorated with tiny snowflakes (a gift from her mother last year), and Candice wondered absently if Flint would be wearing a yukata too. She imagined he would be, seeing as not only was everyone else at the festival wearing one but this was Flint she was thinking about here.
By her side, Glaceon sat semi-patiently. The Fresh Snow Pokemon was staring at the town’s entrance, waiting to catch a glimpse of Flint-- but of course Candice knew why she was really watching so carefully. “Flareon will be here soon,” she told her softly, and Glaceon blinked up at her trainer hopefully. “I don’t think Jolteon is coming, though. Sorry, honey.” Ever so slightly Glaceon deflated, but the thought of seeing Flareon again after so long must have kept her spirits up, because the Pokemon immediately looked back to the wooden arch at the entrance of town.
Spotting a head of fluffy red hair making their way over to her, she stood up straight— as soon as they made eye contact she grinned and leapt in his direction with a friendly hug. “Flint!” With a happy laugh Candice wrapped her arms around him, squeezing tightly for a moment before pulling away to get a better look at him. “It’s so good to see you, it’s been forever!” By her feet, Glaceon mewed in agreement, her little body wiggling in excitement.
Even with the both of them being members of the Sinnoh League, it was rare that they ever got to see each other these days. Even Volkner, who she would have had more reason to see in some sort of work capacity, was a rare sight these days; she’d been looking forward to seeing him again too, but for whatever reason the Sunyshore Leader had decided not to come— no matter. Flint was a welcome companion that she loved just as much, and they’d have a blast together today. They had so much to catch up on.
Hands now planted on her hips, she admired Flint’s yukata. “You look great, by the way! You’ve shown me pictures where you’re wearing this yukata, right? You’ve had it for a while?”
Upon seeing the fire-type master approach, Glaceon beamed in excitement. “Flint!” she called, trying her best not to bound over to him and failing completely. Once she got close enough she rubbed up against his leg happily. “D-Did you bring Flareon? Can I say hello?” Her small eyes sparkled as she looked up at him.
(( Flint trying to knit a scarf for Lucas is hilarious to me because he’d fail so hard and would show up with one and everyone would be like ‘what the hell is that?’ ))
{Ohmygod, Lucas would probably just stare at it for like a few seconds and be “ you know what, you can keep it” }
"Yooo, Flint here! Let's get this party started! I mean, you really look like a guy that could USE one!"
"While I am not adverse to the idea of a party, please fill out the appropriate paperwork to stage one. And while you're at it, go get to work." ~ Archer
