Bo Green Jensen (b. Dec. 18, 1955) is a Danish poet, critic and film reviewer. He is the author of 40 books in many genres: poems, essays, memoirs, young adult fiction etc. I’ve admired his work since his debut collection Requiem & Mass from 1981, esp. his bold appropriations from his English language idols and masters.
Here is a tiny excerpt from his Dylan-inspired collection Filtret ind i Blåt (Tangled up in Blue) from 1987. These are the closing lines, written in rhyming pentameter, which is hard to do in Danish. I’ve translated it as best I could.
The closing Latin quote is from Firmicus Maternis and roughly means “...and in the middle of the tree the effigy of a youth (is hung)”)
