Philosophy (final state) by Gustav Klimt (1899 - 1907)
Final State have a devout international following that’s even allowed them to tour China successfully last December. The four piece from Québec, Canada may not be a household name in America just yet, but they’re preparing to release their high-anticipated new English album on Coyote Records this spring. After listening to their single Changes, I’m more than convinced that they’re poised to make a buzzworthy entrance. The video for the alt anthem was shot in Montreal and shows us a powerful performance by Final State’s lead singer Rick Pagano. Its portrayal of the complicated environment where excess and denial seem to be the only escape after hard breakup is a direct extension of Changes’ sooty embroiled alt pop and rock. We often look for a “good time” and “changes” to escape the hard moments in life. Changes is just the kind of solid track that can resonate with many and charge its way up alt charts with aplomb, like an X Ambassadors hit mixed with the edgy ferocity of Missio and some of French band Her’s swagger. Download/stream the single, here.
