$1,000 honorarium

The A. Poulin, Jr. Poetry Prize is awarded to honor a poet's first book, while also honoring the late founder of BOA Editions, Ltd., a not-for-profit publishing house of poetry and poetry in translation.

Submissions are invited only through Submittable or by post mail. We do not have the staff capacity to read or respond to manuscripts that are submitted by fax or email.

Omnidawn First/Second Book Contest

The winner of each of Omnidawn's poetry book and chapbook contests wins an immediate cash prize ($3,000 for the 1st/2nd Book and Open Contest, $1,000 for the Chapbook Contest), publication of the book by Omnidawn with a full color cover (unless the author prefers black and white), 100 free copies of the winning book, and extensive display advertising and publicity.

Blue Light Book Award Competition

Blue Light Press is currently accepting submissions for their Blue Light Book Award Competition

Submission Guidelines:

Manuscript may be between 50 to 80 of poetry or flash fiction, typed or printed with a laser or inkjet printer pages and must be sent to Blue Light Press Book Award, PO Box 150300, San Rafael, CA 94915

Include a self-addressed stamped envelope for results. We must have a SASE to correspond with you. No manuscript will be returned without a SASE. 

Prize: Winner will receive 5 copies of the book and a 30% royalty on book sales thereafter. The book will be distributed by Ingram, Amazon.com, any bookstore you suggest, and published in cooperation with 1st World Publishing.

BOA Editions: A. Poulin, Jr. Poetry Prize

The 19th annual A. Poulin, Jr. Poetry Prize is accepting submissions

Submission Guidelines:

Manuscripts must be a minimum of 48 pages and a maximum of 100 pages

Name, address, telephone number, and email address must appear on the title or cover page of the manuscript.

Must be paginated and in 11 point font

Works must be original and cannot have been previously published

Prize: $1,000 and the book will be published by BOA Editions in Spring 2021

Louise Meriwether First Book Prize $5,000

DEADLINE: August 15, 2017

PRIZE: $5,000 advance and a contract to publish their book with the Feminist Press.

SUBMISSIONS: Online by email to [email protected] with the subject line “First Book Prize” followed by your name and book title.  Please send manuscript as a PDF, and also include a cover letter as a separate attachment with author statement, a brief bio, how your work fits with the Feminist Press, your manuscript’s word count, and a brief list of writers (up to three) you consider are part of your writing lineage.

GUIDELINES:

Open to women of color and nonbinary writers of color who are residents of the United States or territories.
