⚠️ Panic/anxiety attack warning ⚠️
This I'd kind of an advice thingy - i really don't know what to do so my first resort is tot go to you guys as all of you are so caring and honest.
Today I have my first ever panic/anxiety attack - I'm not really sure how to define what I had.
If I explain the situation a bit it might help - I think.
So... here I go
It was at school, during lunch, my friend and I were told off by the headteacher when we didn’t do anything wrong. My friend was lying on a table and the headteacher told them to get off so they did. The headteacher had left and then I saw a bug on my friends shirt so I walked over to them to get it off whilst all of my other friends were like where is the bug? And suddenly the headteacher is accusing us two of mocking her and being disrespectful for apparently noticing she came back and doing nothing. She asked for our names and forms before telling us to leave from where we were sitting - so we did.
After that my brain kind of went numb but the two of us left anyways. We were walking around and my friend started having a panic/anxiety attack so I tried consoling them, telling them to breath and stuff. Then our other friends caught up with us and they (the one who was having a panic/anxiety attack) started having a nose bleed. They were needling pretty heavily so we quickly moved to the toilets so she could clean up. She was okay afterwards. We put some stuff in her locker so we walked over to the changing rooms to get changed for PE. And that point I was feeling down and kind of out of it. I tried getting changed for Pe but my mind kept trying to process what happened so my hands ended up shaking slightly but I managed to control it and got changed. However after I got changed I ran to the toilet cube and my breathing became slightly shallow and I ended up crouching on the floor. That lasted maybe 1 or 2 minutes and I was able to control myself enough to go out before our teacher did the register.
With three minutes until the teacher came to do the register, one of my friends had come out of he changing rooms and smiled at me - I tried to smile back but my eyes kept welling up and my chest felt tighter so I ran into the changing rooms, wiping my eyes and ignoring one of my friends who was shouting my name. I pretty sure I bumped into someone on the way. I ran straight to the toilets and literally broke down. It came to the point that I was a sobbing mess and had a bunch of short breaths and I was shaking so badly hen I sat on the floor and even when I tried calming myself down - I opened my eyes and it started all over again. I could faintly hear my friend talking to my other friends and they tried to “look” for me or in other words get my out of the toilet cubical. I couldn’t control my breathing, my body and I couldn’t stop the tears. I kept crying and crying and when I stopped crying so much I left the toilet cubical to find one of my oldest friends standing outside - as soon as I saw them I burst into tears and I couldn’t breathe and it started all over again - again. I was with her trying to calm myself for what felt like forever - I couldn’t stop - eventually after the teacher came I stopped crying - but I was still shaking and trying to catch my breath again. I grabbed some water but ended up not drinking that much because my hands were shaking too much that I couldn’t hold the bottle for long.
Only until when we began to play tennis was I fine. The thing is - we got told off at around 2:15 but I started panicking around 2:35. Why was there such a gap? Why wasn’t I panicking around me friends? Why did I wait until I was In the cubical before I broke down? Was it a panic attack or a anxiety attack? Will it happen again??
