NaNoWriMo

Today is November 30th. The last day of NaNoWriMo. I had a ten year winning streak. I won every year since I started taking on the challenge back in 2007. This year I didn't win, but this year I actually had a full time permanent job during the month of November. I feel like I should be more upset but I had a great October writing-wise so it's hard to be. And maybe I've learned what I needed to from NaNo, I know I can write a large number of words in a short span of time. I think I need to focus on other aspects for now and in the future, who knows, but I look forward to taking on NaNoWriMo again someday and crushing it as I always do. I like a challenge and I think it might just be time for me to find a harder challenge for my writing. Who knows, I guess I'll find out.

I met with my blood bank teacher this morning after my theoretical exam. She corrected my exam on the spot. I passed. But she told me I didn’t pass the practical exam two weeks ago. I was expecting it. She didn’t. She doesn’t understand why I didn’t pass. My whole internship went smoothly. Even the internship coach doesn’t understand why. They want me to get a medical paper, saying I wasn’t in good shape to pass my exam since I was hospitalized 2 days before. It’s a lie tho I know that’s not the problem. There are no excuses. I just can’t deal with the stress of that kind of exam. Now they want to make me do it again, instead of doing the whole internship. I fear I’ll just fuck it up again, without any health excuses this time. I wish she hadn’t given me the choice and just made me redo the internship completely. Now I have a way around it but its unfair to everyone else and just... doesn’t sit right with me. This is bullshit. Should I cross the system and fake I was emotionally and physically inapt to perform my exam? Or just accept it and do it all over again in a year?

Challenge 3: Abandoned (temporarily)

It takes a brave person to press on with dogged determination. But sometimes, it takes an even braver person to know when to give up and say “this can’t be done, I’m not gonna waste my time or energy on this anymore.” 

I’m not giving up completely though. I’m definitely going to comeback to this challenge once the home renovation settles down and the flu symptoms dissipate. Meanwhile, I’m moving to the next challenge because one of the important lessons in life is to know how to accept failure and move on from there. One other thing I have learnt from this experience is how much technology (phones, to be precise) has made communication so much easier and so much harder at the same time. It’s nearly impossible to cease all communication (with information on the web or with people) and I’m still not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.

I didn't get to do much today.  Didn't meet my goals.  Back pain, feeling terrible and having only an hour of sleep last night ruined my evening.  I'll move forward and continue tomorrow as a brand new day.

On other news, I will probably not livestream until I am more comfortable sitting.  It was very difficult to use my tablet on the bed to draw.  I think I will need to sit while using it but am not well enough to sit upright just yet.  

Moving onward.
