So Russell has said in a couple interviews now that all three of the 60th anniversary episodes aren't connected and I'm having a really hard time believing him because 1) How the hell could you make three anniversary specials and not have them be connected? 2) Why would you have had the Meep say "I'm going to tell the boss" at the end of The Star Beast? 3) WHY the hell would you make three anniversary specials with David and Catherine's return as well the Celestial Toymaker's and not make them connected?
However, the idea that they are all disconnected fills me with dread. Not that three disconnected, but very fun and quality, anniversary specials is a bad idea, but when you have the Celestial Toymaker returning and are constantly having characters question the return of "this face" I just... I can't help but think it would be incredibly disappointing to have them just be disconnected stories.
What if the return of 10's face really is just a coincidence? What if the Toymaker is really just returning for one story and didn't have some big, weird plan this whole time? Am I the only one who would be bummed by that? Am I putting too much on these stories? I don't think I am but, who knows.
