Midi rings have become really popular... possibly because of the nail art explosion that happened on Pinterest over the last few years. The more attention you can draw to your nails, the more retweets/likes/hearts/shares/jealousy you can create. Yay!

But the midi ring trend is definitely not a new one.

Here's Phoebe rocking them in the '90s on Friends.

But even before that... way before that... women were wearing midi rings in the Renaissance.

Okofakind.com says:

"Renaissance ladies of leisure rocked the rings hard -- probably because they signified that they didn't work with their hands ('cause let's be honest: These accessories don't mesh with laundry and harvesting)."

So there you have it: midi rings = you're rich up the butt and don't have to do any manual labor.

That's not quite the case today.

Yes, boutiques like Catbird in NYC sell 14k gold midi rings that go well over $200 (they're beautiful). But Etsy has a good variety of real gold rings and cheaper steel ones... And Urban Outfitters sells some for $10.

Sure, the Urban Outfitters ones might leave your fingers green and turn copper after washing your hands with them on, but then you can just buy a new one and STILL have spent less than a real gold one.

I've been searching every where for some 'mini rings' or 'first knuckle rings'. I can't find them anywhere.

If anyone from the UK knows somewhere that sells them please let me know.
