#first obsession

So update... I am fully into my asoue phase again, fully, I spent a long time making a new blog for it (@virtualfindingsdocumented ; be careful for spoilers). I have been reading fic for it for the last few days. I recovered my old paper notes from 2008. The Beatrice Letters is arriving this Friday. I feel so alive.

And I kinda impulse bought The Beatrice Letters. Well, it's not exactly impulse if I have had it planned for 10 years right?

In 2008 I first learned about it but it was never translated to my language, I signed petitions and joined an Orkut community that was translating it. I can't remember if I did help or if I only wanted to, with typing only since I couldn't speak English. Anyway, I got the files of it there. Pictures. Not even a pdf, only pictures!

And then I wanted to buy it. A lot of stuff got in my way again and again and I didn't. Until now.

I feel like a child again, I can't wait for it to arrive

I am telling you if you get me started I won't shut up. And so far I only did my rewatch, of both the movie and Netflix, wait until I get to the full reread (that I have planned for like... a few years?)

Also Netflix made such a good job with asoue seriously

I rewatched it a few days ago and I'm still amazed. If I had no idea of the story, it would give me the same feelings I had reading the books. It had enough new material that even knowing the whole story by heart, it still felt like when I first read the books. And the new stuff fitted so perfectly that it just belongs there. They also used some stuff from the movie, stuff that I had expected to be in the books but that wasn't, so I also believe that someone who had only watched the movie would also be satisfied.

Like it has the best of all worlds plus its own things, it has new questions and new information about old questions, it even has the same sort of teasing that I am used to. As an old fan it has all that I could ask for. And from what I hear from everyone else it is awesome on its own too.

I can't believe that after 13 years since a kinda disappointing adaptation (I also have a soft spot for the movie and it did some stuff right, but yeah) we got something so perfect

And I know that we have much to thank to Mr. Handler for that, and to the people who finally allowed him to work on his work. I really believe it's thanks to him that this adaptation could stay so true to the original without being a copy

I'm back to my asoue phase. Not that I ever got out of it (my ankle-!!!) but I am very hyped up for Netflix season 2

I thought of going back to my old blog to post about it, but I am not ready yet to face the fandom. I am so used to being alone in here (when I first got into asoue in 2007/2008, there was almost no fandom for it. It had been too long since anything new had came out. And I also didn't speak enough English). I am too used to my own opinions and theories. I am afraid of ending up acting like the old people I criticize so much.

But I am so hyped. I am trying to slowly opening myself. This may infect this blog. Or I may make a sideblog, though I don't think my first obsession deserves a mere sideblog. Anyway, please bear with me

(And if you are into it, no matter if the movie or the books or Netflix, talk to me I have so much to say, and chatting with people I already know will be amazing to help me prepare to face the fandom, also ask about my ankle I have pictures)
