I noticed your young buck skull and didn't really see a body! I wanted to ask you about your view on taking only parts of roadkill animals, I've always been leery of it because it just feels sort of wrong to do so. Thoughts?
Well I can see why you have those feelings so that’s okay!
It will always be up to you I will never tell someone what they can and cannot do. (as far as ethics go)
My personal feelings toward it have changed with time. At first I thought I should take the whole animal to show my respect toward it and not chop it to bits.
However I have realized that I do not need the entire animal, and leaving the rest of the body feeds scavengers. It’s always good to drag any roadkill off of the road though, so scavengers don’t get killed as well.
Specifically with deer. They are large animals so it’s kind of hard to take the entire animal every time I find one (which is often around here).
