Tara, one of my teammates in beach volleyball, invited me to a girls-only-Christmas-party. Instructions: bring your own drinks, wear an ugly Christmas sweater and bring a present for White Elephant if you want to participate.

So on Saturday afternoon, I went to Target. And spent 2 hours over there. Fun.

First I looked for an ugly sweater, found a bunch but couldn’t decide because they were quite expensive. Then I had to find a present of $25-$30 to participate in the game. This was so difficult! I didn’t know anyone who was coming to the party, I didn’t know the standards, I didn’t know what other people would give. So I walked around for so long, just figuring out a present. It was HELL. I’m such an indecisive person. This one time I spent an hour on choosing between 2 computer mouses. LI-TE-RAL-LY. Making decision is torture for me. So, 2 hours at Target to find a present and decide whether or not I should also buy a sweater. Buying my booze was the easiest part! Five minutes and I got it! Of course I forget something to wrap my present in, so it ended up in a used paper bag and some leftover wrapping paper. Well, don’t judge a book by its cover I guess?

We were a group of 11 at the party. I only knew Tara but I had a great time! The other girls were very friendly and we had a lot of fun playing games and opening our presents. I got a Chromecast! Something my mom has wanted for a while now, so we could watch Netflix on our TV. The girl that ended up with my present got (among other things) a set of nailpolish. She makes paintings with nailpolish so if she doesn’t like the colors on her hands, she can use it in her art. So convenient!  At the end of the White Elephant - presents - game, I felt like everyone picked a present they could use or liked. What a nice coincidence. The party started at 8pm and around 1am, the last people went home. I had a really great time! I was a little bit scared, about meeting so many new people and about the present I brought, but everything turned out good. I am glad I got out of my comfort zone. 

Too bad the hostess is not in the picture because she took it...

By the way, I noticed that all the apartments I have already visited here in Dallas, have a pool outside, surrounded by the building. Apparently this is normal. I’m looking forward to the summer and its pool parties already!
