After a successful weekend with our FIRST Co-OP getting a flood (pun intended) of community FIRST Lego League and FIRST Lego League Jr teams ready for action and our participation in the Kenosha, WI Walk for PAWS event, it was time to shift gears into the new game season.

We finalized plans on supporting got robot? as Co-Hosts of their Elgin Kickoff event (can’t wait) and talked further about our season outreach to further support and mentor community teams.  It should be busy and exciting.  The countdown is on . . .

Make sure to hold the date for our 2nd Annual FIRST Fights Hunger Event on December 27.  We are hoping to really amp up an already successful event!

Thanks to all who participated in our FIRST Co-Op this weekend.  It was an incredible success as we explored all aspects of FIRST Lego League and FIRST Lego League Jr including a special guest who taught us about water as a shared theme across this years seasons.  

The event represented nearly 50 FIRST participants / candidates who are all new to their level of FIRST, and most to FIRST entirely, representing 7 newly formed teams and numerous prospects for additional teams and opportunities.

One thing for sure, our objective of growth and sustainability of STEM and robotics opportunities in the community is picking up steam (no pun intended).  Lake and McHenry County, let’s keep this think going!

I Forgot

Welcome to August!  As we approach the new school year it is time to get some business taken care of before things get hectic with school.  

First and foremost is our FIRST Co-Op!  Despite having some team members miss the meeting as they forgot Tuesday meetings were back on, those that were in attendance got down to business and sketched out our agenda for the big event.  On August 26th we will be taking over Price of Peach Catholic School and turning it into a cooperative and interactive environment of FIRST, robotics and STEM for FIRST Lego League and FIRST Lego League Jr teams and candidates.  We also hope to get some 4-H clubs participating in hopes they will also consider FIRST opportunities.  Lots more work to do . . .
