Selene was a stoic survivor of horrors. She didn’t spout off at the mouth all that much and when she did have something to say it was only after watching and listening, gauging the situation and the people involved and what already was – maybe rather possibly – a tenuous interaction at best, and having reached the most viable conclusion to things as she could in the moment. She had always been a silent observer, while simultaneously being about action over words. A warrior heart and a level head.
Just. Like. Sonja.
Which was why she had been made a vampire and the leader of one of the teams of Death Dealers. Whether Selene would ever know it or not, her similarities to Viktor’s own flesh and blood had been the only reason she wasn’t drained, a corpse burnt in the night centuries ago. But Viktor had learned a precious lesson from the daughter he’d replaced with two surrogates, by now; he had learned that the best warrior and the best political mind could not inhabit the same body without a repeat of what happened to Sonja. And so, Selene was never asked to participate in Council meetings or concern herself with anything that did not pertain to her job. Killing. Lycans.
“I have done everything you’ve asked of me.” She spoke out in the chamber, the words reverberating in the damp dark. “I gave you all the proof you require. There is more here than meets the eyes and if you allow me, I will clean it up. Whatever it is. I have not done this lightly, My Lord. I had to!”
