During his lifetime, there were no "official" printings of Shakespeare's plays, but much to his chagrin, there were many unofficial quartos. Seven years after his death, Will's buddies got together, with a printer he hated but could handle the volume, and produced the first official publication of all 36 of Shakespeare's plays.
