Graduating in 3 days. Cant believe this is happening and then comes college + work + driving. Who knew I would make it this far, started to slack since sophomore year & still do. Had spurts of doing great, wished it happened till the end but different conflicts came by. I pray for my being in college & future activities. I am grateful for everyone who has encouraged, helped, cared, & killed me to the bone. Wished I aimed higher & had that thing that killed me even more to do better to make myself & everyone more proud, hoping to find it in the summer. #ThanksMaandNathan #friendsandfamily #teachers #coaches #strangers #classof2017 #FlorinGraduate #maroonandgold #firstinfamily #mienproud #crctotransfer
Congratulations to my sister Dr.Sana @drkhan007 for finally being the first M.D pediatrician Doctor in our Family. #alhamdullilah #congrats #firstinfamily #sister #ksa #doctor #doctorsb #glad #proudofyou #mashallah
Money Money Money
So this may be a little bit of a sensitive issue with some of you – or it may not, but I’m going to put it out there.
There is a chance that a lot of you are First-in-Family just like us.
Often times the people that are the first in their family to go to university don’t exactly live in the highest socio-economic group. This has meant, for myself at least, that I don’t, and didn’t, find the transition to uni life – as far as finances go – as difficult as some of the other students who were leaving the comfort of home for the first time. In fact, I’m actually doing quite well, and I have never had to live solely off Mi Goreng and give up my health.
I am aware that some of you don’t need this advice, but maybe some of you will. So, to make your transition to uni life a teeny bit easier, each day I plan on posting a bit of a ‘money-savers tip’. It might be a recipe that costs next to nothing, or simply tell you that buying coffees every day before class is stupid if you’re trying to save.
Please let me know what you think, or if you have any questions/suggestions just message, and we’ll/I’ll be more than happy to chat with you :)

First In Family Project
This space right here is what we're calling the 'First in Family Project'. Our goal is to create and maintain a space where you can go for support and advice or just someone to talk to as a student. Be it that you're in your later years of highschool or just starting Uni, we know that sometimes being a student is a crazy scary mess.
At the moment this space is being run by four Student Ambassadors from Deakin University. Our names are Amanda, Candice, Martina and Michael and we're all studying different courses, on different campuses so we'll each be able to give you some unique insights. But one major thing we all have in common? We are the first in our immediate families to study at University. And it can be such a daunting process to go from secondary to tertiary study, one that can be so much easier if you have an older sibling or another family member who can help you out with navigating the process.
Here you can expect posts from us that will help you with that process. We'll share stories of our personal experiences, advice, tips and tricks, along with interviews and anything we can come up with to make things easier for you. We'll be posting some 'get to know us' type posts shortly, and you can drop us as many questions as you like in our 'Ask' box.
