August 13, 2021: a partial return to normalcy. Crossed two state lines, sat in insane traffic, ate greasy (and delicious) diner food, drank coffee in the evenings, reunited with friends from other states, saw Kevin Devine play live (without a screen between us) for the first time since December 2019, and didn’t make it back home until almost 3am. This was my first trip outside of New Jersey and my first show since March 11, 2020 and my anxiety was HIGH. Thankfully, the venue was masks and vaccine cards (or negative COVID tests) required and the show itself was chill and wonderful and felt oddly normal. I’m grateful to Space Ballroom for doing all they could to make the venue safe. I’m grateful to Rich for putting up with me and with the obscene traffic. Always grateful to Kevin for making me feel human again for a little while.
