Could you imagine what it was like seeing the very first TV?
How many times have we heard our grandparents tell us this? We get it the television was like magic to you guys, we still don't care.
Well can we all stop with the attitude for a second and think about this. THIS being the fact that some one shoves you in a little black room, puts you in front of a box with glass on the front, and then all of sudden you dancers dancing right on it. Small little ladies dancing.
That was a big deal for our grandparents. People were amazed that we now having moving pictures for our entertainment. The wonder of "what will this lead to?" was buzzing through all the reporters in that room. Hell, not just reporters, everybody.
I stumbled upon this article which documented the first reactions of the reveal of the TV. Here is a reaction from a reporter in the room:
"I couldn't keep my mind on what he was saying, for I kept thinking: "Now, there is nobody running a movie projector in this room!" Such thoughts stayed with me through the entire forty-minute program. I couldn't realize I was seeing dancers at the instant they were dancing on stage not in the room."
So guys and gals lets be a little less ignorant and a little more thoughtful. Ask your grandparents about it, listen to them and try and picture their reaction to it. Television is now one of the main forms of entertainment in the house. Remember its a big deal...
