Hey guys! I’m in Danang at the moment and absolutely loving it. I really liked Saigon but in the end it just wasn’t the city for me. A little too big and not enough green for my liking. We only spent a month there but we weren’t feeling it so we just packed our bags and peaced out. Paid 50 bucks for a flight and headed up north. And so far it’s been the best decision we’ve made since coming to Vietnam.
Sorry Saigon, but I need this in my life
This city is just amazing and the best thing is that nobody seems to know about it. Most people just come here on their way to Hue or Hoi An and for that reason this city gets overlooked most of the times. But it shouldn’t! Gorgeous beaches, surrounded by mountains and a vibrant city that lights up at night with the most amazing display of colours. Seriously, this place should be on everybody’s list when coming to Vietnam. We’ve been here for 2 months now making our total time in Vietnam 3 months. I know, I should be making way more posts but I’m a lazy bastard. What can I say. We actually just did our visa run the other day and I’ll be doing a detailed post about that soon so stay tuned.
Gorgeous Hoi An, only a 45 min drive from Danang.
The first thing that stood out about Danang to me was the sheer natural beauty that this cool little city has going for it. Living in Vancouver made me addicted to being surrounded by mountains and although you can’t compare, this coastal city definitely offers some amazing mountain views. Road trips are also one of my favorite things to do and it just so happens to be that the Hai Van pass, one of the most awesome routes in the world, is just around the corner.
Hai Van pass. A road trip lovers wet dream.
And then there’s the beaches. Holy shit. I can’t get over the fact that I literally live 5 minutes from the most beautiful beach I’ve ever seen. And it’s not just the scenery. The entire city is just way greener than Saigon. Every street here is lined with trees and it’s just a joy to walk around here. Once it gets dark this city really starts to shine. Gorgeous bridges in all shapes and sizes beautifully lit up are truly spectacular. I’m so excited about all the things I still have to discover. We’re definitely planning to stay at least another 6 months here so expect way more detailed posts soon on this gem of a town. And if you’re planning on coming here don’t hesitate to contact me for any questions!
