I know you have to study a lot in vet school. I start in August and right now Im visualizing having no free time except to eat and run some nights. The way I am visualizing the next year is going to class, come home and run, study, eat, study, sleep, and repeat. Then study all weekend. Is this the reality or do you have some more free time for your sanity? Did you study every single day?
Hey!! This is a really great question, and honestly, it depends on the student and how important a high GPA is to you. Me personally? I really don’t value a high GPA. I value learning the material the best way I can and leaving the semester with my sanity. So for me, I make mostly B’s with an A here or there while being able to take an hour to eat dinner with my husband and watch a show and then have another hour or so to play a little video games or knit and still get 7-8 hours of sleep every night.
This also depends on the test schedule. Some weeks are just study, study study, but please do me a favor! Take breaks!!! A lot of my classmates get 2 hours of sleep and study at least 5 hours a day. That’s great if you want all A’s or just for bragging rights, but you burn out SOOOOOOOOO fast.
Long story short/TL;DR, you absolutely have free time. Not as much as you did in undergrad where you could just slack off for a week and study some on weekends, but more than you hear. Absolutely study every single day. I have taken days off if I’m feelings SO overwhelmed, but that happens maybe once a month. Your sanity is more important. :)
The TL;DR was still long…sorry about that.
'Congratulations on your acceptance also :)
