Picture #7: This picture taken in late 1947 depicts Igor and Svetlana Gouzenko and their young family during their first year of freedom, when the birth of their third child also occurs. Following the defection Igor and Svetlana took their time to return back to normal, but this picture is proof that their first true year of freedom was in 1947. This is evident in the fact that this was the time that the Gouzenko family decided to have another baby, proving that they felt a stronger sense of security.
