The canyon is about 5km (could be more, or less) from the gate of the park. You don’t see until you’re actually there there. At the edge. You park your car before even seeing it. It feels like it takes an hour to leave the car and walk to the edge to see this mars like wonder. Fish river canyon left me in awe. . I cannot speak enough on how Fish River Canyon wowed me. From how magnificent it is to what it took to get us here. We used the scenic route which was 160km dirt road all the way down to the SA/Namibia border. Driving along the Orange river which is essentially the border then back up into Ai-Ais.
