“Eugene!” Varian’s voice echoed through the hall, as he turned a corner and spotted him. There was a little bit of fear in his voice- and he looked kind of shaken up. Running up to his friend, he stopped a minute to catch his breath before explaining what was going on.

“Hi, uh, how do I explain this-” He took a deep breath, nervously glancing behind him briefly as if checking to see if there was anyone listening. “Something’s wrong with m’dad. Not like, medically wrong- well, I guess it’s not that.”

Frowning, the boy glanced away for a moment.

“He’s- he’s acting kind of... creepy?” That was the only word he could come with to explain it. He’d seen his dad in bad moods plenty of times before, but this was something different, and he really didn’t like it.

— ⚡ Cat had forced begged her sister to spend more time with Eugene. Just the two of them. She had suggested them to have a camping trip. Kiera was iffy on the idea, but went with it to make her happy. The two had gone out to grab camping supplies, before heading to the castle. “Hey doofus” Kiera called out, “we’re going on a camping trip!” With a camping backpack placed on her back, she held the second on in her hand.

@fitzrider​ liked for a starter in my time travel shenanigans verse (NOTE: This is slightly different than my other threads in this verse, in that Varian already knows what’s going on. He likely ran into someone else earlier on and pieced it together.) (Also, to further clarify what timeperiod in season 1 he’s from- he got yoinked into the future literally the day after QFAD.)

Varian had been trying to stay out of sight as he made his way through the streets of Corona, hoping to head towards his own home in Old Corona. If he was going to figure out how this had happened, he was going to need his equipment.

He didn’t want to run into anyone else- he’d already been mistaken for his counterpart once, and he wasn’t keen on it happening again.

But, as fate seemed to have wholly turned against him, he wasn’t so lucky. Just as he was turning a corner, he managed to bump right into Eugene.

“Sorry-!” He took a hasty step back, eyes widening. He needed to quickly decide whether he was going to tell Eugene the truth or not- it would save both of them a lot of awkwardness and confusion he supposed, but he wasn’t sure how much he wanted it getting around.

Besides, Rapunzel had seemed scared of him when she’d figured out the time period he had come from. He’d run off before she had a chance to explain why, but he was mildly concerned that Eugene would react the same way. 

“I, uh, wasn’t- wasn’t watching where I was going. ‘M kind of in a hurry.” He went on, avoiding directly meeting Eugene’s gaze. Please don’t ask more questions.

“Hey not to sound like I care or anything but Anyone would be lucky to have you. You might get on my nerves but you are an amazing person when you want to be. If anyone you like are to blind then they are the one with the problem” ((I-I didn’t mean for that to get that long))

       THERE’S PAUSE IN THE WOMAN -- hesitation as she stares up at him, hazel gaze scanning rapidly over his face for any signs of dishonesty but also from the shock of someone  (  && of him particularly  )  caring one way or another about her in any form. she’d never think she’s amazing && wasn’t told she was often -- hearing it now was conflicting because it made her happy but that sort of happiness was a weakness && could be seen as arrogance in a way.

      ❝  it’s...more complicated than that, it -- ... it doesn’t matter.  ❞

      shoulders shrug as her gaze shifts to the side -- unsure && closing off her body language again.

      ❝  but....thanks, eugene.  ❞
