One of the weirder things about age is the older I get, the less shocking it is that Mia Wallace's milkshake was $5
Have we already talked about this? About how every time this song comes up on the radio (and it still does! Surprisingly!) it becomes an earworm until I say to someone "SIGH. BUT REALLY, IT WOULD COMPLETE MY LIFE IF I COULD HEAR A FIVE DOLLAR SHAKE COVER OF THIS SONG? AND I'M NOT EVEN SURE WHY? BUT IT WOULD."
So. There you go.
Sometimes I am reminded that some of the music of my childhood was like amazingly terrible, and yet... I love every awful moment.
And then, obviously, I really want to hear a Five Dollar Shake cover of it.
This is one of those times.
I am not sorry.
Pulp Fiction (1994)
Okay sooooooo... once upon a time in the 90's, I was a huge Backstreet Boys fan, yes? SO YOU CAN'T JUST BE LIKE "90's" and "HALLOWEEN" without me thinking of the "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)" music video.
There's this band called Five Dollar Shake. They're a 90's cover band. You probably haven't heard of them because so far they've just, um... rehearsed, I guess. I suppose that makes me a hipster 'cause I'm already doodling them? The hipster government is going to mail me my thick-rimmed glasses and hobo-chic clothing soon. I hope I get a hemp poncho. *crosses fingers*
There's three members of Five Dollar Shake, so it kind of felt incomplete to me since there's FIVE members of the Backstreet Boys. So I was like "WHERE THE HECK AM I GOING TO FIND A LITTLE VAMPIRE AND A WAIFY YOUNG HEARTTHROB MUMMY??? Oh... right." Later. Not now.
Commentary included with each picture. Um, except I just wanted to add that that last one turned out way scarier than I initially expected it to. I don't usually draw Halloween stuff... I'm pretty pleased. But I still think it's kind of scary. ((Re: Don't turn into a werewolf, Todd.))
Just so you know, I will be listening to this song for the rest of the day to get through the nightmare.
Raise your hand if you think Five Dollar Shake could totally rock a cover of this.
*raises hand* Cough.
I blame Alex...
