Kailee listened vaguely to what the two boys were talking about until James mentioned leaving her. “What? You never said anything about going away for this project..” Kailee sat up and moved away from him a bit. Normally she wouldn’t be all that angry or upset but this time she had a secret that was a huge weight on her chest. A there was a part of her, deep down, that didn’t trust herself to be right down the hall form Quinn and not have her boyfriend around.

“C’mon baby, it’ll only be a couple of days and I promise to call you lots. So much you’ll get sick of me.” he tried to make a joke to lighten the mood but all Kailee did was nod and look back at the menu.

Quinn could feel the tension between the couple. He had assumed they had talked about it before, at least that’s what James had made it seem like. He felt uncomfortable, and so close to  getting up and leaving the two alone but not sure if he could brave an out yet. He settled with staring at the table cloth in front of him and trying not to listen in to their conversation despite the situation. 

“The food looks pretty good.” He said awkwardly, trying to make a segway that would distract everyone but mentally cringing at his own actions, knowing it was bad timing.
