Lesson #109: -지/-죠:

Adding 지 or the formal version 죠 turns a statement into a question, just as in English we say “isn’t it” and such

Here are some examples: 날씨가 춥죠? = It is cold, isn’t it? (question formal) 날씨가 춥지? = It is cold, isn’t it? (question informal) 네가 지금 한국말을 잘하지? = You speak Korean well now, don’t you? (question informal) 지금 밥을 먹을 갈 거지? = You’re going to eat now right? (question informal) 집에서 숙제를 할 거죠? = you’re doing your homework at home right? I just restudied this now after ages so I apologise for any mistakes! This is actually a really helpful grammar topic so 열심히 공부해요!

-니 ending (asking questions) You can use this grammar point at the end of your verbs to ask a question, though I have read is gives a girly or feminine tone to the sentence so beware! This is also informal! Conjugation:

Stem + 니 Verb stems that end in ㄹ - remove the ㄹ +니 했다 -> 했니 있다 -> 있니 보다 -> 보니 팔다 -> 파니 살다 -> 사니 열다 -> 여니 Examples: 숙제를 했니? - did you do the homework? 서울에 가겠니? - are you going to seoul? 마음에 드니? - do you like it? 어디 사니? - where do you live?

Lesson #108: Narrative Tense -ㄴ/는다:

This tense is used as a “narrative tense” somewhat like a plain declarative tense to make a statement or observation not aimed at a particular person:

Conjugation:

Desciptive verbs:

Stem + 다 (in other words full verb)

Then:

Action Verb Stems that end in vowels use -ㄴ다:

오다 – to come

오 – verb stem

오 + -ㄴ다 =온다 – come

Action Verb Stems that end in consonants use -는다:

먹다 - to eat

먹 - eat

먹 + 는다 = 먹는다 - eat

간다 - I’m going (commonly used when leaving)

-ㅂ/습니까: Since the highest form of language -습니다 is never used to ask questions we use -습니까 Conjugation: -ㅂ니까 - attatched to a verb stem that ends on a vowel -습니까 - attached to a verb stem ending on a consonant Examples: 만나고 싶니까? - do you want to meet? 내일 학교에 갈 겁니까? - are you going to school tomorrow? 내일 학교에 갈 것입니까? - are you going to school tomorrow? 화장실 바닥은 청결합니까? - is the bathroom floor clean?
