The Thousand Oaks and Moorpark Police Departments are pleased to announce that they will be accepting used, worn and frayed American Flags for collection. The flags will be respectfully transported to The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #11395, located at 158 Conejo School Road in Thousand Oaks, for proper destruction in accordance with United States Flag Code and VFW Policies.
The flags will be accepted at the following locations during business hours:
Thousand Oaks Police Station, 2101 E Olsen Rd., Thousand Oaks
Civic Arts Plaza Resource Center, 2100 E Thousand Oaks Blvd. Thousand Oaks
Oaks Mall Resource Center, 350 W Hillcrest Dr. Thousand Oaks
The Moorpark Police Station, 610 Spring St. Moorpark.
The Thousand Oaks VFW estimates they respectfully destroy 600 flags every year in a ceremony at City Hall.
The disposal boxes were hand-crafted by the Conejo Valley Woodworkers Association, who donated their time and expertise to this project.
