When Karim recognizes (Y/N) from the internship, he can't help but go to see her and actually hang out.

Karim was patrolling. It wasn't a day off, but it was one of those days where the members of the 1st company were walking outside to directly intercept the danger, instead of having to rush there from their church. He decided to go to the outdoors market -many many people were in there. Nothing was really happening, until he heard a girl getting picked up by a group of guys.
So he turned, to look if the situation was out of hand ; the girl didn't look happy about it, but she was answering to those guys quickly and some of them had already muttered some insults because their pick-up lines weren't working. And then Karim recognized who that girl was ; (Y/N) (L/N) from the 8th company, from the internship.
Thus, he decided to go there. ''You pieces of crap must look at the crap over there instead of saying crappy pick-up lines.'' The boys turned to look at him, and the girl as well -she smiled when she recognized him, not that she had cared much about the guys.
''What ? You heard me. You're asses who act like asses, so now go away before I kick your asses.'' That said, they walked away, grumpy. (Y/N) spoke up first. ''Those insults are still so ridiculous, but thank you, Fulham !'' He raised an eyebrow. ''So you do recognize me.'' She blinked a few times. ''How wouldn't I ?'' while saying that, she gave a look to the instrument he was using to turn fire into sound and then ice. He nodded, understanding.
During the internship, (Y/N) was actually the one Karim had disliked the less. She was kinda annoying, like all the interns, but she was less than them -even though the man couldn't figure out why. ''Anyway, don't look so grumpy, it wasn't a big deal. As long as they weren't following me...''
That sentence caught him off guard. ‘’Go easy with the easygoing, you easy-goer !’’ He answered her, but it only made her laugh. ‘’What ?!’’ He asked -even though he couldn’t tell why he cared. ‘’Your insults are funny ! I like them !’’ Karim only looked away at her statement, and followed her while she kept looking around the market.
‘’You can leave, you know. I know how to protect myself.’’ She said, even though she didn’t sound like it was actually bothering her. ‘’Don’t think I’m a nuisance, I just want to make sure the real nuisances don’t come back.’’ She simply nodded, still looking around. She wanted to ask him so many questions about what happened after the internship, but she knew that bad guy used to be his friend, so she didn’t dare to ask, after all.
After some minutes together, however, they started to talk about random things ; how they grew up, why they started to work at the Fire Force. (Y/N) gasped, and grabbed Karim’s arm to make him follow her. He made a quick sound at the touch, not expecting it at all. Still, he allowed her to led him.
‘’What did you see ?’’ He asked, raising an eyebrow. Without letting go of his arm, she showed him a vinyl. ‘’That’s kinda old, yeah, so ?’’ She smiled. ‘’I want one ! Do you have one ?’’ He shook his head. ‘’It’s not because my skills are related to sound that I collect anything related to music.’’ She let go of his arm and bought it for herself.
Karim wanted to ask her if she needed help carrying it ; but he had his own instrument if anything was happening, so he couldn’t be burdened with something else. Still, some words escaped his lips ; it caught himself off guard. ‘’You decided to let go of my arm ?’’ (Y/N) stopped to smile, only to wear a shocked expression. ‘’That was a reflex, I’m sorry...’’ He smiled, and that shocked her even more ; Karim Fulham smiling ?!
‘’What ?’’ He asked, when he saw her face. ‘’N-nothing !’’ She answered, and he only brushed it off. However, after he realized she had been walking a few steps behind him, he stopped, raising his arm a bit so she could grab it once again. He sighed when he did so, looking at the void while waiting for her.
She giggled, and grabbed his arm anyway. ‘’Is it okay if I grab some drink ? I’m kinda thirsty.’’ He shook his head. ‘’No, go ahead, I’m quite thirsty too.’’ That said, they stopped to buy drinks -even though Karim was still focused on his mission.
(Y/N) started to drink some, but stopped. ‘’Hey, can you make ice cubes ? It’ll be better.’’ He arched an eyebrow. ‘’I can create tiny pieces of ice if you create little flames. It won’t be cubes, but it’ll work.’’ The girl agreed, creating a flame with one of her finger. That was enough for Karim to create two tiny pieces of ice ; one for each.
‘’Is that a date ?’’ (Y/N) finally asked ; they were drinking together while visiting the outdoors market, and Karim was letting her grab his arm. ‘’It wasn’t supposed to be.’’ He answered, not looking at her -still focused on if anything was happening. ‘’Soooo... it is one !’’ She said, smiling. ‘’I guess so ?’’
She chuckled. ‘’You guess so ?! You never went to any date ?’’ He rolled his eyes, before sipping on his drink. ‘’Tiny 19 years old who looks like she’s 16 isn’t going to tell me anything about dating.’’ (Y/N) giggled. ‘’Kinda weird to tell me I look 16, while we’re on a daaaate !’’
Karim started to smile, since the girl was still laughing. However, an Infernal appeared, in the middle of the market. The two firefighters immediately alarmed everyone, trying to calm them down, saying they’ll take care of it. ‘’Touch his heart, I’m starting the prayer while extinguishing his fire.’’ The man said, and (Y/N) nodded.
‘’Flame is the breath of the soul. Black smoke is the liberation of the soul.’’ He used his bell to turn the Infernal’s flames into ice. ‘’Ashes thou wert and art.’’ (Y/N) created some fire before jumping behind the Infernal. ‘’May thy soul...’’ Karim started, before the girl finished his sentence ‘’... return to the great flame of fire.’’ That said, she burnt the Infernal’s heart, killing him immediately. ‘’Latum.’’ Karim finished.
People cheered for them, while they were getting back their stuffs. ‘’We work well together, we should go on a real date, Fulham !’’ (Y/N) said, smiling. ‘’Karim. And, yeah... sure.’’ The man answered, smiling as well.
now they just have to wait for forever until they have a day off lmao
