Saw there's a threat of a call out post for fan writers for wrestlers, and I wanna give you a couple of tips:
Refuse to apologize for liking what you like.
Make the person making claims against you show proof.
Like, you're out here doing your thing in whatever scope you're doing it. A name you have, whether a pen name or your real name, is tied to it. Some fucker wants to show up and act like what you're doing is some sort of secret terribleness YOU have to answer for?
Fuck that. They wanna fight with you about what you do, it's their fucking job to provide the evidence that you've done anything shitty. And that's true for any of their dogs they send to nip at your heels.
Any anon who shows up at does any sort of "OMG you believe X" or "OMG you're the worst because you wrote Y."
Make them come back with proof. And if they actually show up (they rarely come back) with their "proof," you know how to deal with this. It's super easy. You've got this in the basic fic bitch kit. Here it is:
"Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's morally wrong to write it. Eat shit and die mad."
And, should the rare asshole come back screaming for a third round, just copy and paste "Eat shit and die mad." Or delete it without responding. Whatever jazzes your blood the most.
Having been in fandom for 25 years, I'm not surprised we're in the list of undesirables phase again, but at the same time, I am so BORED at this fucking behavior. Oh, no. You're going to try and shame me for liking what I like. Again. And again. Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow...
Call out posts only exist because fandom went from an email system to a blogging system, and rather than getting a private reply on a email list calling you all kinds of names (aka a flame), these assholes adapted to call out posts, which they carried over to twitter, and are now trying to start up again here because a few of them came back from twitter.
Write what you wanna write. Have fun. Enjoy your porn. Take no shit.
