This is perhaps the most incredible first sunset anyone could hope for. Sun has been determined to stay permanently activated here-- it’s a forced fresh start, a new beginning, and he can’t let his other mode ruin this for them-- but his goal is forgotten in less than twenty-four hours as he watches the brilliant blue of the sky (the real sky!) melt into deep oranges and reds more vibrant than any he’s seen before.
The sunset is utterly captivating. Too captivating, really, because by the time the Daycare Attendant remembers what comes after sunset, their light sensors kick in to offer an unhelpful reminder.
It takes Moon a moment to adjust after the switch. Even with their unique protocols ever-present at the forefront of their mind, they’re just as distracted by the outer world now as they had been in their playtime mode. They move slowly as the last of the sun’s dim rays fade into darkness, stopping every so often in the middle of streets and sidewalks to stare up at Chronolium’s satellite. The rings are... unexpected.
As the night stretches on, Moon sees fewer and fewer people out and about. That’s as it should be-- every one of them ought to be tucked tucked tucked away by now-- but he can’t help but notice a figure in the near distance that seems to be making no move to go home no matter how late it gets. Perhaps it’s the red glow of the stranger’s eyes, so similar to Moon’s own, or the way the creature observes from the shadows as though it belongs there, but the Daycare Attendant finds itself responding with a more benign curiosity than it’s felt in a long time.
It slinks forward in the shadows, its movements spider-like. The animatronic is shorter than the stranger when it’s hunched like this, but as it approaches the creature from behind, it rises to its full height so it can poke its faceplate over their shoulder.
“Hᵉ𝚎ₑllo...” Moon says, flashing his permanent smile. “You’re sure up late... late... I wonder what you could be, 𝚏𝚛𝚒𝚎𝚗𝚍...?”
