I knew about Maccas bc I went there once before, but that was the only thing I really heard that was different? Probably bc we stayed in very touristy areas. Vegemite is gross and ewww... cheese? I really don't like the sound of that. I am hopefully going to Melbourne during some point but I’m not sure when, and I have no idea what a myki is.

"you can’t wear that."
i look up from my dresser to see harry standing in the doorway grinning at me despite his criticism. his new favorite hat is perched on his head, and i’m overcome with the sudden impulse to launch it out my open window.
"what? why not?" i’m not wearing anything out of the ordinary: black band t-shirt, black converse. i’ve swapped a pair of black shorts for my jeans considering the warm weather outside. it seems as though spring has finally hit portland.
"the sun’s out," harry says. "you can’t wear black when the sun’s out."
“you’re wearing black,” i say, scowling at him. he’s made me get up early on a saturday in order to go to the farmer’s market with him, and now he’s criticizing my fashion choices.
"this is gray." he fiddles with the hem of his definitely black shirt and looks up at me, taking in my frown. i’m ready to argue with him over his apparent color blindness, but he shrugs. "whatever, it’s fine. let’s go."
"fine," i say. i’d woken up grumpy this morning after too few hours of sleep, and harry’s cheesy grin and chirpy voice are only making it worse. i push past him into the hallway and head towards the kitchen, where the pot of coffee i put on earlier should be finished brewing.
i hear a noise of surprise from behind me, and then harry’s arm wraps around my waist and pulls me back to him.
“celeste.”
the way he says my name, in a tone that’s a little bit annoyed but mostly adoring, makes me shiver. the tangle of grumpy knots in my stomach begin to untwist themselves.
"today’s gonna be a good day, yeah?" he asks, resting his chin on the top of my head. i take a deep breath and close my eyes, and my hand comes up to fiddle with my necklace, the little record harry bought me. inhale good vibes, exhale bad ones. my annoyance and anxiety dissipates as i relax into harry’s touch.
"yeah," i say, spinning around in his arms to press a kiss to his nose. "i hope they have strawberries."

18. Favorite beverage?
Hmm Kit mostly drinks water because she’s convinced it can offset her unhealthy diet, but she likes apple juice when she can get it. She’s not very picky about alcohol, but she doesn’t like wine that much. Harry drinks a lot of beer and when he tours he likes to get local beers in all the cities.
19. What do they think about before falling asleep at night?
Kit just conks right out because she’s so exhausted. Sometimes Harry writes song lyrics in his head and has to turn the light back on so he can write them down. Otherwise he worries about things, like Zayn and his mum and his album release.
20. Childhood illnesses? Any interesting stories behind them?
When Kit was 10 years old she broke her arm on the monkey bars, which caused her mum to fret about all over the place for a while. Harry was never a very athletic child but he had chicken pox at age 6. He caught them (it?) from a girl he kissed at primary school.

4.What would they do if they needed to make dinner but the kitchen was busy?
Both Kit and Celeste live in places where the kitchen can’t really get busy because they only share it with one other person. But during her freshmen year, Celeste lived on campus in a dorm, and whenever the shared kitchen was too messy or someone was using the oven right when she wanted to make a frozen pizza, she’d text Sasha and complain about it.
5. Cleanliness habits (personal, workspace, etc.)
Kit’s generally not the neatest person, but she tries to keep her desk at work clean because she has a lot to do and she can keep things straighter that way. And Mimi cleans up after her at home. But her bedroom’s definitely a bit of a mess, and I imagine she’s got things tacked up all over the walls in a chaotic way.
Celeste is more of a neat freak. She’s one of those people who cleans when she has a lot of schoolwork. If her work area isn’t clean she won’t be able to start studying.
6. Eating habits and sample daily menu
Kit is a grazer, eating what she can get her hands on when she gets the time. She eats a lot of pre-made salads and sandwiches from Pret and places like that. I think if she had the time she might have a giant recipe book with clippings from magazines, but it’d all be sort of aspirational and in reality she’d be a pretty basic cook.
Celeste is a bit of a stress eater but generally tries to eat well and cook for herself. She eats a lot of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and pasta and chicken breasts, easy and quick stuff. Not a big fan of vegetables.
7. Favorite way to waste time and feelings surrounding wasting time
Kit doesn’t really have time to waste. She’s not really interested in television or movies so unfortunately I would say her guilty pleasure is sleep. She has a lot of things she’d like to be doing with her free time so whenever she ends up sleeping a day away, she feels awful about it.
Celeste can get sucked away for hours reading music blogs and such online. She doesn’t really keep up with celebrity gossip but she has a few tv shows that she binge-watches occasionally. With her course load, though, she feels like she always needs to be studying, and doing anything else makes her feel guilty.
You didn't have to make it clear! Its a taken that as a writer you know what its like. Readers tend to forget, and I feel like the author of that story is much younger than us as well. You put it all very, very well, its commendable.
Thank you! I think respecting other authors is something that the community as a whole needs to work on as well. Especially the readers, but the writers too. Sometimes we forget. :)
7. Do you have a favorite story among your body of work? ahh, this is hard because i like all my stories for different reasons, but i think if you really made me pick i'd probably go dt because that's the first story that i first really, really wanted to write

12. Do you sneak personal references into any of your own stories? Would you care to share some examples? always!! umm, off the top of my head, some of the cameo characters in here comes the sun (ie. the people at the party) are some of my close friends; dt's entire ~meet-cute~ was partially based off a friend's story; and i'm sure there are more but i can't think of them off the top of my head!! but definitely, i love putting little personal references into the story uwu
