We need to talk about the American man's love of plaid. In Britain in the late 60s and early 70s young men loved their velvet suits and jackets but at the same time in America the love was for plaid. I don't know why, maybe there was a velvet shortage back then. Anyway, menswear designers thought that men looked amazing in plaid, despite evidence to the contrary.
