Remember that time The Flash decided it owed me after making me endure nearly an entire season of Ralph, and wrote me a Speedster Iris AU as amends.
I didn’t mention it last week, but I fully love the police force and the city going “uh, we live in comic book adaptation and we are aware of that, so hold up there, Baz, we’re not 100% buying Oh Look That Dude Is Back From The Dead”.
I’m not entirely convinced that Harry isn’t always about another late or two away from being an actual super villain. WE DON’T TURN PEOPLE INTO CHICKENS, HARRY. Although I do support and endorse the idea of turning Ralph into anything that doesn’t talk.
I think you may all suspect this but please assume 99.99% of the time Ralph has his mouth open and words are coming out, I’m hissing “shut up, Ralph”.
Joe referring to ‘Ralph’s nauseating powers’ reminds me of why I forever adore Papa Joe
Heeeyyyy, it’s One Of Maybe Three Decent Human Characters From Westworld, Felix. And oh hey, he’s meta-person who can…. steal powers, I guess? Seal them? I’m sure in absolutely no way will he be murdered by Devoe. Sorry, Flash-verse Felix.
Ralph annoys the shit out of me but I have to admit my solution to a mega-villain trying to murder me would also probably be “going to hide in a bunker and eat comfort food, lems out” EDIT AFTER FINISHING EPISODE: Felix swaps powers which is....hilariously both a terrible power and clearly a ‘exists purely for plot reasons’.
I love Cisco and therefore I am going to generously ignore his being wrong that Spider-man 2 was a good movie. Although he’s probably right that Eternally Cranky Dude With Ego + Dark Matter + Boosting Brain = A TERRIBLE IDEA
Iris using her super powers to undress herself and Caitlin = THE BEGINNING OF THE WESTSNOW FIC I AM WRITING IN MY HEAD
SHUT UP, RALPH. Like, I’m not saying I want Devoe to win or anything, but if he must murder a Ralph? I’M FINE WITH THAT.
So, again I am reminded of why I do love this show: in a lesser show, you know we’d get the male main being sulky and pouting and a general shithead about his wife/partner suddenly being the big hero. Guarantee it, I’ve got years and years to watching shitty tv to back this up. It’d happen. But Baz? Yeah, he’s a little lost and in a bit of an understandable funk about losing his powers – as being a speedster is so central to his identity – but he is nothing but supportive of Iris temporarily taking over. Worries over her, sure, but also makes sure to train her because he knows she can do this.
Like….yes, sometimes this show shits me. Some plots aren’t winners, I could write an essay on how the show has never done justice wit Caitlin, Wally or Jessie. I’ve been wondering all season long why the show hates me so much as to shove Ralph into my viewing experience. But, for all of these issues I have with it….I still love it, and Barry and Iris sincerely being one of the best-written couples on anything right now has a lot to do with it. They’re so fucking good and I’ve rarely been let down when it comes to them.
I haven’t mentioned it so far, but if you follow me you probably know me well enough to assume that my normal “I AM GAY’ reaction to Iris is A THOUSANDFOLD this episode. In a happier, more-pandering-to-my-gay-ass verse, Flash Iris is a permanent fixture.
And we end on Iris going back to her blog – yay- and Harry being weirdly smug and obviously now changed so…that’s much less yay. Oh dear.
