I liked the part with the tomboy.

Kind of bizarre to find out they used uncredited body doubles for all the dance sequences, which were by far the most substantial parts of the movie. Still, Jennifer Beals looked insanely cute, which made up for how bland the non-dancing scenes actually were. The fantastic Moroder score certainly helped too.

The romance was kind of creepy, the cinematography was laughably sleazy, and the writing was often confusing. I'm still unsure what the stakes of her final performance actually were. I liked how the montage of her watching different people dancing was actually her absorbing their moves like some sort of dance-vampire for her big final performance.

She took an oddly anti-nudity stance for a sexually empowered young woman who worked at a strip club / art theatre or whatever the hell that place was. Hilarious every time they showed the kind of blue collar types that were watching these increasingly avant-garde performances while they ate diner style food.

Iconic, certainly, but not really good.
