Goodbye WordPress: 2014 Will Be the Year of the Flat-File CMS

As the author of the article, Jeremiah, stated, “WordPress isn’t going away anytime soon”, but a website based in a Flat File CMS seems to be a good idea if you want to build something simple, reliable and fast.

Considering that GitHub is encouraging the importance of version control and as an organization that is well-known in our industry, I believe that is a very good practice to have a website that doesn’t consist of a bunch of unused resources (aka WordPress).

Statamic, Kirby and Jekyll are the popular flat file CMSes, however, the last one seems to be a great choice regarding its large capacity of transforming simple text files to web pages, pages that can be later stored in your personal website.

I’ll definitely make time and build a website on a flat file CMS, maybe not for a client, which can become a bit scared when they’ll notice that they can delete something and break the whole website apart, but in a project that gives me the freedom of integrating relevant embedded services.

e-fork has created the brand new microsite for the company alimex. The Design was created by hadi teherany and developed by e-fork, used the Flat-File CMS called grav. 

Grav is a type of flat-file CMS, a content management system that stores data in files that are organized in folders rather than in a database. It handles content in a way that provides a solution that can be as simple or as powerful as the developer needs.
