in recent decades, technology has been increasingly advancing to the point that few companies can keep up. We’ve witnessed such advances as the smart phone from the inception of the first cellular phone within the span of 20 years! This may not seem like much considering it’s already been 42 years since the first cell phone, but companies have been trying to continually advance the smartphone with little success in recent years. Consumers have become so engrained with innovative technology and ideas that they are unimpressed by and ungratefully waiting for new products. The same can be said about televisions. Some brands of TVs are so incredibly vivid and clear that it almost feels real and tangible. Movie theater quality in the comfort of your own home. The first flatscreen televisions were surely not as impressive as today’s flatscreens, let alone Smart-TVs that have WiFi capabilities. So in the search to please consumers, many companies have come to a standstill where not one company can practically outdo another, until now...
LG has created an interesting prototype in which one television can simultaneously display a double sided image. This allows for both sides of the television to be viewed. Available in two different sizes, 111-inch and 55-inch. Many may find this to be of no value considering they would likely put the TV on a wall making only one side of the TV visible anyway. However others will find that it can be quite convenient. These Televisions can be extremely beneficial to store owners, particularly restaurants, as well as shopping malls. The main innovative feature about this prototype is the perception of how a TV should be watched. OLED TVs allow for visibility no matter the angle. This LG TV virtually has 360 degree visibility. It takes the theory of flatscreens to another level offering many possibilities. Now a television could be set up in the middle of a room, or set in between a wall to be viewed from two separate rooms. Although it has not been stated, I would hope such a design would allow for dual-picture and not just a reversed mirror image. Personally, I’m happy with my wall-mounted 60-inch Samsung and won’t be buying another TV until they are interactive holograms that turns a room into a live movie set!!
