Flavia gives birth to Felix and Flavia's third child--a son, Octavian.

Octavian is a smiling, sweet child. A good-natured baby who grows into an affectionate, well-behaved toddler.

Although she didn't expect to care much, Cecelia finds herself warming to her new little brother.

It was Lupercalia, the season of love!

But then a few months later, Felix and Flavia gather their children in the tablinium for some exciting news.

"We're going to have another baby!" exclaims Flavia.

"What? But... you're so..." Cecelia trails off, not wanting to upset her mother who is so obviously excited.

Marcus has no such tact. "How can you have a baby now?"

But it doesn't matter how incredulous they are, Cecelia thinks. There's going to be a new baby in the house soon. She should have seen the signs... her mother getting tired quickly and growing rounder in the middle.

It's not really that weird, she just didn't expect it to happen to her family.

History Challenge Lookbook - Flavia Forest

A couple of weeks ago someone asked for lookbooks for my history challenge characters. My sims don't really wear a great variety of outfits in this era, but here is one for Flavia.

Everyday: Hair (Eco Lifestyle) | Dress (TSR)

Sleepwear: Hair (Discover University) | Top (Base Game) | Skirt

Swimwear/Underwear: Top & Bottom (Island Living)

Hot Weather: Dress | Sandals

Yeah, lookbooks aren't my forte. Too lazy to change my CAS background from the one I use for CC previews. I'll do a lookbook for Cecelia next.

Reading is still Cecelia's favorite thing to do, even if Jocelyn doesn't think it's ladylike to read so much. There's no feeling like being alone and getting lost in another world.

Besides, Flavia reads too. If her mother does it, it can't be that unladylike.

Flavia is teaching Marcus to read too. Maybe when he's older Cecelia and her brother will have something to talk about.

Flavia scolds Marcus for destroying his sister's scroll. "You must be kind to your sister. She is your elder."

Marcus doesn't think any of this is fair. No one wanted to even ask him his side of the story.

He didn't have a good reason, but his mother could have at least asked, couldn't she?

Marcus decides to continue to annoy Cecelia whenever he can. As long as no one is looking, he thinks, he can get away with it.

"I'm worried about Marcus," Flavia confides to her mother-in-law one afternoon. "He doesn't pick up on his schoolwork easily. It's hard to make him obey me. He only wants to play outside."

"Boys will be boys," sighs Hana. "Shutting him up in a room all day just makes him think about all of the fun he could be having outside it."

"But my brother never had such trouble when he was in school," counters Flavia. "I almost wish Cecelia had been a boy instead of Marcus. She has the drive for the work. Or if their temperaments were reversed."

Hana shakes her head. "Oh, no, a wild girl would be worse than a wild boy. But you can praise the gods you don't have both!"

From the other room, Marcus overhears everything.

That evening, Felix's banquet goes off splendidly. Antonius is impressed with Felix's house and Flavia's hospitality. But two people at the table seem quieter than the others.

Later that evening, Sage finds Caul in the library.

Sage's fist clenches before she speaks. "Don't you dare let it slip about our past together. We both know it's over now, but just a stray word from you could ruin me even now!"

"What do you mean? Aren't you married now?" asks Caul.

"No thanks to you! Antonius thinks I'm a widow, and that my son isn't illegitimate. If he knew he was raising your son, and that I was never married--I don't know what would happen."

Caul swallows. "My son? I have another son?"

Eventually it grows late, and the visitors have to leave. Julian runs straight to his mother, eager to get away.

Jocelyn and her mother stay a little longer.

"You two seem to have had a good time," says Aurelia.

Flavia's eyes crinkle at the corners. "I'm so glad you two became friends. Why don't you hug goodbye?"

After they hug, Jocelyn laughs and smiles. "I can't wait until the next time I can come over."

"Are we friends, then?" asks Cecelia.

"Of course!" Jocelyn replies.
