Enjoy these delicious and nutritious waffles made with whole wheat flour, oats, and flaxseed. They're perfect for a healthy breakfast or brunch!
Ingredients: 1 cup whole wheat flour. 1/4 cup oats. 1/4 cup ground flaxseed. 1 tsp baking powder. 1/2 tsp baking soda. 1/4 tsp salt. 1 cup low-fat buttermilk. 2 tbsp honey. 1 large egg. 1 tsp vanilla extract. Cooking spray or oil for waffle iron.
Instructions: Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions. In a large mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, oats, ground flaxseed, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, honey, egg, and vanilla extract. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are okay. Lightly grease the waffle iron with cooking spray or oil. Pour the batter onto the preheated waffle iron, using the recommended amount for your waffle iron's size. Close the waffle iron and cook until the waffles are golden brown and crisp, following the manufacturer's instructions. Carefully remove the waffles from the iron and serve immediately with your favorite toppings.
