did you miss me?
( unprompted, because becks loves me / @flcshbangin )
The smile that crosses his features is borderline sheepish, and blue eyes drop toward the floor. His heart absolutely swells in the gunslinger’s presence, happy to see him, happy to hear his voice, happy to be alive. He is very nearly bursting at the seams, but he manages somehow to keep himself together, to keep himself relatively calm. He hasn’t yet thrown himself upon Jesse, and he considers that a small victory.
❝ Are you kidding? ❞ Gaze shifting back to the cowboy ( because heaven forbid he look away from that stunning sight for more than a few seconds ), Jack’s smile widens. God, he hasn’t been nearly this happy since the old days, when Jesse was still around and things weren’t good but with him, they were bearable. He always seemed to manage a little better when the gunslinger was there, stopping by to bring Jack lunch or pulling him away from work, insisting he take a much-needed break. Those moments, however small, were what kept him going despite his stress. Those moments were everything. Then Jesse was gone.
He should have known better than to think it would last. No one would voluntarily stick around that long when Jack was slowly unraveling, and things only got worse after Jesse left, anyway. Tensions were high all across the globe and within the organization, and had Jesse stuck around, he would have seen Jack cry far more times than anyone should. Still, it hurt like hell when the cowboy disappeared. It felt like betrayal. It still stings, underneath all of the relief, the hope, the joy. There’s still something there, a thorn on a rose.
But it doesn’t matter. ❝ Of course I missed you. Come here – stop making me wait. ❞ Gripping fistfuls of Jesse’s serape, Jack tugs him in, locks him in a deep, loving kiss. It’s everything he’s wanted in the past few years and more. Jesse tastes like an end to grief, immeasurable bliss. Jesse tastes like a cigarette after sex. Jesse tastes like Jesse. It’s been so long, but every bit of the kiss is familiar. When Jack pulls away, it’s to press his forehead against the other man’s, a contented sigh escaping his lips. ❝ Don’t ever leave me again. ❞
