already thinking about my monster boy shuro design 😈 i mean i have been for a while but the idea started out as specifically as dm characters but moonscorched (fear and hunger),, but a general design would give me more freedom i thinks

rambles under the cut!!! i would show the concept doodles i have so far but im shy. maybe later

its hard 2 explain. my current vision of how he'd look is tall, lanky and gaunt, with knobby joints and a permanent hunchback. lots of gaping holes along his torso (that do actually house animals at times!! i think thats cute). his face is at least partially obscured by sakura flowers growing out of his head. underneath is scary tree face aaaahhhhh

my thought process was that trees are dependable and relied upon by both animals and humans. the joints and the long, stick-like limbs were intended to resemble a stick bug. a stick bug is not a tree, merely a bug camouflaging as part of one. also supported by his skin not actually being wood and only resembling it in texture and how it wraps around itself.

his "face" would appear somber and tired. his poor posture makes the exhaustion he feels look a lot more prevalent and is a literal manifestation of the weight he holds on his back. him being so tall (thinking well above 6 feet) represents how distanced he is from others, and his skeletal appearance represents how little he takes care of himself.

the sakura flowers were inspired by that one new silent hill monster... them covering his face kinda reflects laios' view on him and how him being a foreigner is like. a huge part of it

i might remove that though bcoz id like to add smt about how much of a loverboy he strikes me as

i dont think he'd be overtly aggressive. very quiet. i think he'd move very slowly away from people and only go aggro if pursued. i was considering giving him mantis-like arms to replace his katana but the male mantis symbolism doesnt quite fit

@malaierba ! OF COURSE!!! i decided to make a post abt it :o3 UMM just in case you've never listened to the magnus archives, titles like "the spiral" and "the eye" are a few in a total of 14 manifestations of human fears/phobias

shuro- his interest in bugs, his loneliness after falin went missing and him closing himself off left him incredibly open to the corruption and its methods. he hid it well but it wasn't until thistle himself took falin that the infestation starting on the inside become visible enough to raise alarm

kabru- avatar of the eye. it doesnt affect him negatively or physically too much, but the eyes above his head r tied to his ability to know everything without prior knowledge of it

falin- snatched by the spiral once and then twice, became an avatar of the distortion after the second time due to thistle's efforts. uncanny and slightly inhuman looks are indicative of an avatar of the distortion so that's why she's got funny fingers :o3

A LITTLE BONUS!! i tbink falin would be the one to kill shuro and stop him attacking laios' archive, leading him to the group to be sprayed with co2 (the one thing that kills the bugs iirc) out of pity. and also namari is could be the hunt since she reminds me of daisy tonner, again smt from tma
