Fleet Commander 1950s Chex Cereal Trading Card
I like the now ex-Fleet Commander tho. Good man. Gives me slight - very slight, but still - John Sheridan vibes.
proxima class refit, type 1 fleet commander
like the ranger, the limited number of proxima class’ resulted in the majority of them being refit. unfortunately, with the cold war winding down by the time the first refit was completed, they were relegated to single fleet command roles, and only fifteen were refit before the rest were mothballed. eventually the class was decommissioned, and the class line became dedicated fleet tenders and essentially mobile star bases for admirals. it wouldn’t be till the start of the ambassador era, when tensions between the federation and the klingons began to heat up again, did this type line see combat fleet service again.
Ships, Ships, We’re Gonna Get Ships!
A few weeks ago, the developers of Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes drop the bombshell that a new holotable would open up: Ships! It was an amazing announcement that Holotable Heroes lost their sh…well they were excited about it. But that’s all they said. At the end of a very long email about changes and updates to the system, they through us an “oh, by the way, ships.” Thankfully, the people who run the Galaxy of Heroes official forum are pretty good about getting us additional information in a “timely” manner. So on Friday of last week, we were given our first official look into Ships! Here are the key takeaways and my humble opinion about them.
It’s a Huge Update
“The Ships feature is a major update – our biggest one to date – and so over the coming days and weeks we will be sharing information about different parts of the release.” “Huge update” is code for roll-out problems. And with roll-out problems comes free stuff. So if you notice that your Luke Skywalker is missing a head or a Teboo’s leader effect doesn’t trigger properly, be patient. Or don’t. Raise hell. The more they hear about it, the bigger your reward will be. Probably.
Fleet
“A fleet is a group of ships which (currently) start with a maximum of 5 ships in play and up to 4 more ships held in reserve as “Reinforcements”. (Much more on all of that in a later post.)” The real question is what ships are we going to see? I am thinking we are going to either get some generic trash ships to fill our fleets or we are going to get something awesome. Of course I’d like to see Luke’s x-wing, Slave 1 or the Millennium Falcon.
Fleet Commanders
“Fleet Commanders will crew their own special capital ships and have unique abilities that can be used over the course of a space battle. The Fleet Commanders will each have a unique set of abilities, as well as the option to call in a Reinforcement on their turn.” Each player will star with three Fleet Commanders: Admiral Ackbar Grand Moff Tarkin Mace Windu Mace Windu? Seriously? I know that the Jedi were commanders in the Clone Wars but is that the best you can do? I get Tarkin and Ackbar, but come on. Give us a few more characters. You could make Grevious a fleet commander. He commanded…right? There’s more to the ship update on the SWGOH forums.
