This is so random but I'm so intrigued by the posts you tag as Fletcher lol. I only know your ocs through your tags since I'm a newer moot and I feel like I have a grasp on Julie and West (esp West I'm lowkey obsessed with the idea of them even tho I don't know the right pronouns) that I just do not have on Fletcher yet. Squints my eyes. I must understand your little people

actually very appropriate that you don't have a good grasp on Fletcher, I barely have one myself! Fletcher is a very new OC. I've only really been thinking about her Role in the Story since like March, and if you were to ask me when she became a Character with a personal history and traits that I felt were enough to constitute Characterhood, I'd have to say that was just back in June.

so she's very new and I'm still settling on lots of details regarding her. but in essence,

Michelle Fletcher is a character who first shows up in Oxenfree (the storyline from my OC headworld centered around Joan and her role as Oxenfree, the superhero). Fletcher shows up as an antagonist and both equally drives and is thrown around by the conflict that ultimately closes Joan's section of the story. (Joan dies. Kinda.)

Fletcher is the director of operations for the threat containment & neutralization branch of MacPearson LTD., an American weapons manufacturer and private military corporation. I'm still working on the exact name of her department.

Director Fletcher. she's one of those "all you rogue superheroes and weirdo mutants need to be contained or dead" types.

EXCEPT. She doesn't particularly care about all the rogue superheroes and weirdo mutants! When she appears in the story, she's after something very specific. Her sister, Madison Fletcher, escaped containment in MacPearson something like a decade ago and has been on the run since. Fletcher wants to bring Madison back into MacPearson whether SHE wants it or not. because ultimately she will be Safe there. And they will finally have the opportunity to be sisters again.

Fletcher knows MacPearson isn't bullshitting about this "treatment" because she's undergone it and is on a lifelong dose of sedatives to manage the remaining risks, herself. She has the same condition Madison does :)

... And, y'know, MacPearson has the means and the incentive to treat Madison's condition.

Madison has a parasite inside her that gives her badass evil crystal generation powers but will eventually kill her and puppet her body to a secluded location to establish a hive. The only reason Madison has made it this long is down to her own force of will and the unique dynamic she's developed with her parasite, where they both have the barest minimum respect for each other after literally a decade of needing to keep each other alive.

So of course things don't go as planned. Madison would actually genuinely rather die than go back to MacPearson and Joan fucks up badly by going rogue to protect her. Madison ends up killing a lot of innocent people but Joan ends up marrying her anyways so they're happy #notimetogetintothatnow. meanwhile the breakdown Fletcher has over this (because it gets the execs talking about just killing Madison) gets her demoted from her position and basically tarred and feathered. As it turns out, Fletcher spent her entire career trying to capture Madison alive and occasionally dragging her feet to give her what SHE thought was some bare modicum of a good life; hence why she didn't just crash the wedding and kill everyone there. And now, without Fletcher in the chair, somebody sends a kill team for Madison.

by the time Fletcher is put back in charge of anything, months have passed. Madison is dead and Joan is in a coma. Fletcher has lost everything and can't even get revenge on the woman that made her sister lay down and die.

enter the Flinch storyline.

Fletcher is shuffled into position as the director of field operations for Unicorn Team, a containment and elimination team comprised entirely of MacPearson "assets"; lab experiments and various freaks. The members of Unicorn Team are Beck, an artificial soldier grown from human tissue lacking all the frilly non-essentials like skin, Faucet, basically the thing from Carrion if she had a princess complex, XMS-717, the fan favourite back again, and JR-171, offhandedly referred to as Juliet Romeo.

Fletcher is given total discretion and unquestioning command over a team of assorted freaks and the lab-grown clone of Joan Romero, the woman responsible for the death of her sister.

She doesn't like her.

Fletcher is an extremely bitter, angry woman who has had everything scraped away from her and when given anything to cling onto, will dig her nails into it and kill to keep it away from anyone else. She makes Julie's life a living hell. I love her so much.
